I was awarded First Place at SNAPHEALTH – From Field to Frame, India’s first public health–focused photography initiative, organised by the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Omandurar Government Estate, Chennai.
This recognition is particularly meaningful to me as it represents my first formal acknowledgement in photography, while also bringing together two areas close to my work and identity—public health and visual storytelling. The theme of the competition, “The Beauty of Public Health,” encouraged participants to document real-world moments that reflect public health in practice, beyond textbooks and classrooms.
Through these photographs, I attempted to capture everyday scenes from the field that quietly illustrate systems, people, and actions that sustain community health.
Some faces in the photographs have been intentionally blurred to ensure privacy and maintain ethical standards related to confidentiality.
This experience has reinforced my interest in using visual media as a complementary tool for public health communication and advocacy.
